Denali Update #1
One particular member of the Expedition team has a unique story behind why she is embarking on this summit.
Sarah Moore is the daughter of retired Navy SEAL Rear Admiral Scott Moore. Sarah grew up as a SEAL kid and now has decided to help fundraise on behalf of other SEAL children by supporting the national nonprofit SEALKIDS through this expedition.
"SEALKIDS is one nonprofit that my family and I hold very close to our hearts. SEALKIDS helped my brother get through school and helped him grow when he was struggling, all while my dad was deployed. It is extremely beneficial to have this support while SEAL families are going through long deployments. They can't do it alone, which is why I chose this fundraiser with SEALKIDS Denali Expedition." Sarah will be summiting Denali with her father this June. Sarah was first introduced to ice climbing and her love for adventure by her father, so it is only fitting that one of her next adventures will be with her father.
Sarah is not only taking this act of courage and generosity to summit Denali, but she is taking her boldness and love for empowering others to continue to grow an outdoors club called, Keeping Women Wild. Sarah created Keeping Women Wild when she was a sophomore at Fort Lewis College and did it to help cultivate community and allow college students to get outdoors and learn the skills to adventure safely.
Back when Sarah started Keeping Women Wild, Sarah had said that by 2022 she wanted to summit Denali, and sure enough, she will be summiting it before the end of 2021.
